How to Prepare Photos for Scanning in Jacksonville—and Plan the Cost
Start with one box or album
You do not need to organize a lifetime of photographs perfectly before asking for help. Start with one box or album, estimate the quantity, and decide what you want from the digital files: family sharing, reprints, a slideshow, or an organized archive.

Separate prints from special items
Make a rough count of loose printed photos, then set aside slides, negatives, larger prints, and damaged items for discussion. Standard photo packages cover prints up to 8 × 10 inches; other materials may need separate services.
If you cannot estimate the quantity, ask for help with a photo count. Mention albums and any items that are fragile or attached to pages before choosing a package.
Keep useful groups and labels together
Keep photos grouped by family, event, album, or the order that already makes sense to you. Use a separate paper label for each group and discuss how you want the digital folders organized.
Do not force photos out of an album if they are stuck. Leave attached or fragile items in place and ask about handling options. Avoid adding tape, glue, or sticky labels to the photographs themselves.

Compare package capacity and total cost
Choose a package by the number of standard prints and the services you need. Current base prices are:
- Starter: $140 for up to 400 photos.
- Standard: $250 for up to 750 photos.
- Family: $375 for up to 1,200 photos.
- Generation: $700 for up to 3,000 photos.
- Professional: $1,250 for up to 6,000 photos.
A package price covers its stated capacity; it is not a promise of the same per-photo rate for smaller collections. For example, the $250 Standard package is approximately $0.33 per photo only when all 750 places are used.
Check the current package pages for inclusions and add-ons. Album removal, additional photos, higher-resolution options, and restoration can affect the quote. Slides and negatives are separate from standard photo packages.

Confirm timing and digital delivery
Ask for an estimated completion date when discussing your collection. The quantity, condition, and extra work affect the project; mention any family event or other deadline before handing over your originals.
Photo packages include JPG files on a USB drive and a downloadable ZIP file, plus rotation, cropping, and basic color and exposure corrections. Discuss substantial damage repair separately. Confirm the arrangements for returning your originals and keep an extra backup of the finished files.
